Yes! If you are currently recovering from an injury and want desperately to get back to dancing your best, you probably don’t need me to tell you how much your mental and emotional wellness play a part in creating a successful recovery. Many of my clients have started working with me during their injury recovery process because they saw it as the perfect time to work on themselves and their mindset in a way that they just didn’t have the time or desire for pre-injury.

We can definitely incorporate the decision making process into our coaching sessions when you are ready to have that conversation. Whether you want to see if first building a healthier mentality in dance would make you want to stay or you just want to jump right into the process of deciding what's next for you in your path, the content of our coaching sessions can absolutely be tailored to help you gain the clarity you're looking for around your next steps whenever you're ready for it.

Short answer: I fully welcome the inclusion of challenges and goals that are not explicitly dance-related!
Long answer: Given that my philosophy is that you are a whole person, not just a dancer, I believe it is very important to address aspects of your life that may be affecting your experience in the studio, even if the aspect of your life that you would like to discuss may not seem dance-related on the surface. I am a trained and certified Professional Life Coach and absolutely welcome discussions on topics outside of dance that, when addressed, can give you the opportunity to fully thrive as a person.

The default approach that I take is to offer coaching from a perspective that is religiously neutral and completely welcoming to those of any worldview.
That being said, if it is important to you to incorporate your faith into the coaching process, I am happy offer coaching from a Christian Biblical perspective upon request. Simply let me know during the consultation if you would like to incorporate your faith into our conversations.

Yes, absolutely! I have worked with many retired dancers or dancers in transition who want to work through mental, emotional, and behavioral patterns from dancing that are still affecting their self-esteem or other areas of life. I also have coached many dancers who want help discerning their next steps in their career or help in the transition from dance into retirement (or from retirement back into dancing).

Here are some helpful things to know if you are a parent who is interested in seeing if coaching will be a great fit for your dancer.
If you want to encourage your dancer to pursue coaching, but you're not sure how to bring up the idea to them...
If your dancer is interested but feels embarrassed that they "need help"...
Why it is very important that your dancer fills out the application themselves when booking a free consultation...
If you're interested in joining the consultation...
If you feel the need to join the consultation because you're worried your dancer won't share enough relevant information about themselves or their situation...
I do not meet with parents individually before the consultation with the dancer present...
What happens after the consultation?
If you feel that your dancer needs support but have not yet brought the possibility of coaching up to them, I highly recommend that you start by sharing my website with them and perhaps a few of my recent YouTube videos on topics you think may resonate with them so that they can be introduced to who I am and my coaching services.

Though most dancers are quite receptive, if you have brought up coaching as an option and they feel a little embarrassed that they seem to need help, you can assure them that experiencing stress, self-doubt, performance anxiety, etc. is actually totally normal, even for professional dancers. Seeking support to help you overcome this is a very smart and proactive choice since these internal challenges can often hold dancers back from performing to their fullest potential for years. It can also be an assurance that I have danced professionally myself and have witnessed/experienced all of the challenges I help with in my coaching program firsthand.

What happens after the consultation?
When booking a free consultation, it is very important that your dancer fills out the application form for themselves so that I can best understand their personal take on the goals and challenges they would like help with. This is important to make sure that they want this support for themselves and not just because they were encouraged externally to do it. This will lead to a more effective coaching relationship if we end up working together.

What happens after the consultation?
Though most dancers prefer to speak with me individually in the initial consultation, if your dancer is young (especially under the age of 14), you are welcome to join the consultation as well as long as they are comfortable with you doing so. I will primarily be speaking with them throughout our conversation to gain an understanding of their personal challenges and share more about how my coaching process would work to help them, but you are absolutely welcome to observe and I will provide time towards the end for you to share any questions or things you may personally want me to know in order to best serve your dancer.

What happens after the consultation?
Know that I am always thorough in the initial consultation and subsequent coaching sessions to ask the questions needed to understand their needs and the context they are coming from to make sure I am serving them best and addressing their personal needs. As a coach, I am passionate about addressing each dancer as an individual and taking their training context, background, and holistic needs into account, whatever is relevant to our work together.

All pertinent information that you may need to know prior to booking a consultation can be found on my website. If any questions remain, they can be addressed in the consultation or after the consultation via email or a brief phone call if you are not able to be present.
